Overview
Our level 1 food hygiene course gives an introduction and basic understanding of food hygiene and is an essential starter course for people who wish to work in the manufacture, preparation and serving of food and food products. At the end of it, you'll come away with a basic food hygiene certificate, too!
Chapter 1: Expectations of workers
The first chapter of our basic food hygiene course sets the scene and format for the course and then goes straight into the first section which is designed to give the learner a basic understanding of the personal hygiene requirements and expectations of people who wish to work in a food preparation role.
Chapter 2: Illness and cleaning
This chapter explores what is required of you if you are working in a food preparation area and are suffering, or have recently suffered from, an illness. It then goes onto the next section of the course which is all about cleaning activities and the use of cleaning cloths.
Chapter 3: Pests and food storage
In this last chapter of the basic food hygiene course, we go on to discuss the often spine-tingling subject of pests and general creepy-crawlies and other nasties - uuggghh! We then polish off the course with a section all about how food should be handled and how best to store food. Here, you'll be able to proudly print off your basic food hygiene certificate!
After The Course
After the course, we suggest you progress onto our Food Hygiene Level Two. Whilst you'll receive a basic food hygiene certificate, it makes it much easier to progress onto our other courses and complete all levels! That way, you'll be fully OfQual approved in no time.
